Episode 3 - Dessert

We are here guys! The last episode in The Living Word Series ~ The Way Out of The Pit! It's been an awesome experience being your waitress at the King's table, serving you a pure meal from the word of God without my story or experience getting in the way. Today we conclude this series but we continue to deliver the sound word of God as food for your souls.

Please join me as we dive into this short, mouth-watering dessert🍰!!

~Appetizer: Genesis 37:3 ✅

~Main Word: Genesis 37:23-28 ✅

~Dessert: 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 and Romans 8:37 ▶

• 2 Corinthians 4:8-9: "We are hard-pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed."

• Romans 8:37: "No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us."

We have previously established how sad the pit experience can be, in fact, a potential grave is what it is! But today there is an assurance in the word for those who have accepted God's love by believing in His son, Jesus that no matter how threatening, suffocating, and injurious the pit experience has been, it will never (by no means) become a grave for their souls. There is an assurance of victory over that thing that has caused others' death. You've heard stories of people who lost themselves to depression, anxiety, fear but yours will never follow the same plot - it's a promise! You will conquer through Christ, says the Lord!

Paul the Apostle, the man who wrote the scriptures above suffered pit experiences. Now you might argue that his prison experiences and persecutions weren't so discouraging or emotionally draining for him because He still enjoyed fellowship with God and it also seems to me like he drank a lot of water (the word + the spirit) in the pit. I can however assure you that he went through similar pains as you. In 2 Corinthians 12, he tells us of how he was given a thorn in his flesh - perhaps or a sickness or a sin (as many suggest) - he described it as a messenger of Satan! Being given the messenger of Satan to torment you is surely a pit experience! If that "messenger of Satan" were to be in my mind whispering negative thoughts to me, no doubt depression will set in. Like you and I, he pleaded with God 3 times to take it away... but God said “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.”

So yes, Paul was also in the pit but yet he says we are not crushed! We are never in despair! We are not abandoned nor are we destroyed! We are more than conquerors through Christ who loved us. How sweet!

Though you're in the pit, it won't get worse for the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day (Proverbs 4:18). So, relax!

• Be still and know that I am God (Psalm 46:10) is what your father says.

• Trust that I am working all things out for your good (Romans 8:28).

• Instead of worrying, tell me about it in prayer (Philippians 4:6).

• Most importantly, I still love you and I've got you (Psalm 103:11).

Those are some words from the father to you. Always remember you are the son of God, and your pit experiences don't define you for your identity is hidden with Christ in God (Colossians 3:3). I'll like to conclude this note by saying you still have the coat of many colors your father gave you. It may have been stripped but it's still yours, there's a remnant of it - only realize that!

Prayer

Heavenly Father, we thank you for this sweet meal you have provided us. We thank you for the assurance in your word that we are, and no matter the obstacles will be victorious! We receive the strength to digest these words and to hold onto them as we trust you to rescue us from the pit. Thank you father for your love. Help us to love you too, dearly! In Jesus' beautiful name I pray...Amen 🙏🏽
